Creating a Zero Waste Kitchen

Creating a Zero Waste Kitchen

I think most of us can agree that seeing food go to waste doesn’t feel good. Opening the refrigerator to find wilted lettuce, or those rubbery carrots in the crisper drawer makes our stomachs sink.

Not to mention the little twinge of guilt we feel when we reach for a plastic baggie in the grocery store, or to keep a spare lemon slice in our fridge.

Limiting food waste is something I strive for in our home and I’d also like to do more to eliminate plastic waste. Which is why I’m grateful to be partnering with Lily Cameron, Co-Founder of Wild Minimalist, to learn all there is to learn about creating a zero waste kitchen.

The purpose of this conversation is to explore ways to eliminate food waste and plastic waste in the kitchen. You’ll leave feeling inspired, capable, and confident; armed with the tools to improve meal planning and make your kitchen more sustainable.

Lily will review:

  • 9 easy steps for transitioning to a zero waste kitchen

  • How to eliminate plastic from grocery shopping

  • Tips for storing and preserving food without plastic waste

Kelly will review:

  • 9 quick shopping tips to avoid food waste

  • A meal planning method for limiting food waste

  • Tips for using food scraps in creative ways

With a little preparation, and a few simple tools, you can have beautiful, healthy meals and dramatically reduce food and plastic waste.

This event includes zero waste appetizers, wine, refreshments, and two cloth produce bags from Wild Minimalist.

The event will be at my home in San Rafael, CA (address shared upon sign-up) so space is limited. Please sign-up by Sunday, 5/26 for early-bird pricing and by 5/28 to attend the event. Only 10 spots available.

The Summer of Freedom

The Summer of Freedom

As parents we dream of lazy summer days by the pool enjoying our kids and making lasting memories. But the reality is we’re often consumed by birthday parties, activities, and all the care-taking involved in preparing meals and keeping our kids safe and healthy.

In fact, trying to keep our kids fed, safe, and healthy can feel like all we do!

In this workshop we’ll cover two topics that will free up time and energy so you’ll have more time to play with your kids while still enjoying a healthy summer.

  1. No-Cook Meals: Learn how to create healthy no-cook meals for picnics, potlucks, and weeknight dinners that are customizable for picky eaters and all dietary preferences. You’ll get a chance to create and enjoy your own no-cook meals and leave with a jar full of lunch for the next day.

  2. No-Harm Products: Learn which ingredients should never be allowed in your sun and personal care products and come away with a checklist of the essentials for a safe summer, confidence choosing products, and a spray-on sunscreen to add to your pool bag.

This event is co-hosted by Sally Sauvignon of Beautycounter and Kelly Brown of Real Food House and will be held at Kelly’s home in Terra Linda (address shared upon sign-up).

Admission includes: dinner, wine, local chocolates, a glass jar for leftovers, and a spray-on sunscreen

Spots are limited. Please sign-up ASAP.

If your plans change you can always cancel up to 72 hours prior to the event.
